It’s a question Dr Justin Coulson often hears from worried mums and dads.
In this session, parents will learn the psychological secrets that build their child’s sense of identity, strengths, and growth mindset in order to perform better, be happier, and build resilience.
Based on Dr Justin Coulson’s best-selling book 9 Ways to a Resilient Child, this session shows parents how to help their children cope powerfully and positively with the challenges that life throws at them.
This presentation is one of Justin’s most popular sessions, with powerful stories and illustrations that every parent can relate to. He explains the factors that help and hinder resilience, why common advice such as “toughen up Princess” just doesn’t work, and how competition and praise may undermine resilience.

Who is this seminar targeted towards?
The session is for parents, carers, and people who work with children, teenagers, or young adults.
What's included in the licence fee?
For $600 + GST, you’ll receive whole-school live virtual access to the seminar by Dr Justin Coulson, Australia’s leading parent experts. You’ll also have access to the recording for 2 weeks after the event. Marketing materials will be provided to help you get the word out in your school community, and you’ll have access to a Google Sheet where you can monitor how many parents from your school have registered for email reminders regarding the session.
Can individuals buy a ticket to this event?
Yes! Individual tickets are available here at $35 each.
What if parents and staff aren't available when the event is scheduled?
We’ll make the recording available to your school community for 14 days after the event. This should give people plenty of time to catch up if parents can’t make it to the live event.
Is there a deadline for my school to register for the seminar?
The latest a school can register is the Monday of the week of the event. We recommend schools register as soon as they can. We will be providing you with marketing materials to help promote the event to your school community. You’ll want to allow plenty of time for parents to find out about the event and register. However, should you run out of time to promote the seminar, we encourage your school to still sign up and provide the recording to parents. The recording will be available for 14 days after the event.

This session is included in the Happy Families School Membership (Grow & Bloom tiers only).
What are the technical requirements to view the seminar?
All you’ll need to watch the seminar is an internet connection and a browser. Once your school is registered, we’ll send you a unique URL for your parents to register for email reminders, as well as the URL to your unique viewing page.
Will you be providing marketing support?
Yes! Once you’ve registered your school, we’ll be in touch with a marketing pack for you to use to advertise the event to your school community.
Will I be able to see who from our school community has watched the seminar?
We will provide you with a Google Sheet, which will allow you to see how many people have registered for email reminders for the live session. We won’t be able to give you specific information about who accessed the live event on that day.
Is there a limit to how many people can access the seminar?
No. If you purchase a license, your whole school community will have access to the event. This includes staff members and parents.
How long will the seminar go for?
Dr Justin’s presentation will last about 45 minutes. There will be time for approximately 20 minutes of questions at the end of the seminar. Questions can be submitted through the chat function (anonymously if the user prefers), which will be embedded on the viewing page.
Will the parents session be suitable to watch with their children?
This seminar is designed for parents. We encourage parents to use their best judgment about what is suitable for their own child.
About Dr Justin Coulson
Dr Justin Coulson is the co-host and parenting expert on Channel 9’s Parental Guidance, the founder of happyfamilies.com.au, and one of Australia’s most trusted parenting experts.
Over the past decade, he has helped innumerable families with his nine books about raising children, his hundreds of media appearances (including all of Australia’s major news outlets and even the Washington Post and the New York Times), and two viral videos that have been viewed a combined 80 million times!
Justin earned his PhD in Psychology from the University of Wollongong. He and his wife, Kylie, have been married since the late 1990s and are the parents of six daughters.
